The Journey of an Artist:
Allen Say
Welcome to "The Journey of an Artist: Allen Say", a pathfinder dedicated to helping you explore the man that has written and illustratred so many wonderful picture books like Grandfather's Journey and Tea With Milk. But do you know how he became an artist? This pathfinder will help you find that out plus much more. Just think of a pathfinder like an electronic map which helps you get to where you want to go. This pathfinder will guide you to find many more online resources then you could find in one print encyclopedia. You'll find out about Allen Say including his childhood in his native country of Japan, how he became an artist and some unique things about Japanese culture. Before going on, take a minute to watch the short video on the right which shows some of the artist's beautiful illustrations from many of his books. Do you recognize any of them?
Here are a few things you need to know when looking around this site.
First, there are some key words throughout the pathfinder that you might not know their meaning. So when you see a word underlined, click on it and you will be taken to the Definitions page within this pathfinder. There may be other words that you come across during your research that you don't know. Just come back here to the home page and click Word Central and you will be taken to the website shown below where you can find the definition by typing in the word.
If several words in a row are underlined and you click on that link, you will be taken to a different website outside this onewhich will give you more information about the subject.
Next, wherever you see the big pencil, , you will have a chance to work on an extra project to help you learn more about the many topics that you will find on this pathfinder.
