Research Help
I hope you have learned some interesting things you didn't know before and had some fun along the way. Maybe you will want to do some research and find articles or interviews about something or someone else. So where do you begin? You can always ask a librarian or teacher for help finding good databases for reliable sources. If your own your own and you can access your library's databases it might look something like this:
So I wanted to look at student resources and then because I wanted to find out information about a person, I chose Biography in Context which took me to this page where I could type in the name starting with the last name first:
And then I saw this page and I knew I had the right person:
And then I clicked on his name because it was underlined so I knew it would link me to the right page:
From this page I could either look at the listings down the middle or chose from the menu on the left if I knew I wanted to find a news article. There are 8 news articles that I will be able to chose from to start my search. Not too hard, right? And always remember, if you can't find what you are looking for, ask a librarian. They love to help kids find the right information. That's what they are there for!
Are you ready to search on your own? Good! Follow my example and look for a biography resource and look up a famous person you are interested in. What did you find out? Write a paragraph about your person giving all the details that you would be interested in. Then share your information with someone in your family, a classmate or teacher. They'll be impressed with your research skills!
